Therapy, Specialized For Veterans.
Being a veteran means that you likely have been faced with unique challenges that many who have not served would struggle to understand. Being a service member means that you have spent a great deal of time as an integral and highly skilled member of a tightly-knit team- a team that many service people would consider akin to family. Many veterans face challenges as they transition to civilian life, often reporting feelings of culture shock, loss of purpose, isolation, and overwhelming emotions.
Being a servicemember also means that you may have faced challenges related to long deployments, active service, and witnessing or experiencing traumatic events. Sometimes the effects of these events are felt instantly; however, it is not uncommon for them to arise years later.
All of these experiences can affect a veteran in a variety of ways. Many former service people cope with the effects of PTSD, grief, anxiety, depression, and challenging feelings resulting from transitioning out of the service. I can help guide you through a transformative journey toward your ideal life.
My Approach.
The therapeutic relationship is an important part of my work. I want people to feel comfortable to be themselves and not edit their stories or experiences. I acknowledge how challenging it is to be vulnerable and will trust that you know what’s right for you to share and when.
I use various modalities including narrative therapy, mindfulness, trauma-informed practice, neuroscience and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Journey Towards Your Ideal Life.
Do you feel like your life lacks something? Peace? Meaning? Excitement? Something else? Many of us do. This feeling of lacking is a common result of our modern life, pushing us to stay on the go, always connected, always in debt with our time, and seldom having a few moments to really be with ourselves. This feeling can be a catalyst, however, as it’s our body’s natural way of telling us that we are in need. Lean into this - get curious - what do you need to live your best life? Maybe you don’t know yet - that’s okay. Many of us don’t. But, there is help. You can take charge of your life, embrace who you are, and take the steps you need to achieve your goals and the life you desire. If you think we may be a good fit, please reach out for a complimentary 15-minute call.
